Consumer credit for the mobile-money economy.

Ugandans already pay with their phones. What's missing is fair, instant credit at the moment of purchase. nxtPay brings pay-in-4 to shops online and at the counter, with merchants paid the full price, less our fee, every week.

The problem

Most shoppers can't spread the cost of a phone, a sofa or a school uniform without informal lenders. Most shops can't offer credit at all, so they lose bigger sales.

Our answer

nxtPay: shoppers verify once, get a limit, and pay 25% today and the rest over three weekly mobile money payments. Shops get the full price less a 6% fee, paid weekly, and run their business on nxtPay.

Why now

Mobile money is everyday infrastructure, national ID is widespread, and the National Payment Switch will make interoperable payments easier. nxtPay is built for that future.

Merchants pay, shoppers stay in control

  • Merchant fee: a percentage of each sale made through nxtPay (6% during the pilot), in exchange for paid-in-full settlement, bigger baskets and new customers.
  • Consumer interest: a small, transparent rate on the financed amount (2.8%), earned through licensed credit partners. No late fees.
  • Software: nxtPay Business (till, payouts, reporting) brings merchants onto the platform for all their sales, not only credit sales.
  • Never holds money: nxtPay is the technology provider; payments go to the shop or the lender through a licensed payment aggregator.
