Questions shoppers ask
Who can use nxtPay?
Adults in Uganda with a mobile money number and a national ID. You verify once in the app and see your credit limit.
What does it cost?
Interest is 2.8% of the amount you borrow (the 75% after your first payment). It's shown in shillings before you sign. There are no sign-up fees and no late fees.
How do the weekly payments work?
We send a MoMo or Airtel prompt on each due date; approve it with your PIN. You can also pay early, or pay off the whole plan at once, in the app.
What if I miss a payment?
You get reminders and a 3-day grace period. If a payment stays unpaid you can't start new pay-in-4 plans until you catch up, but you can still pay in full.
Can someone else pay the first 25%?
Yes, from any number. The credit stays in your name and you repay it.
What if I return the item?
Within 7 days of delivery, ask for a return in the app. If it's accepted the plan is closed and everything you paid comes back to your mobile money.
Do all shops offer pay in 4?
Most do. Products show a green nxtPay price when you can pay in four, or a yellow price when the shop takes full payment only.
How much credit could I get?
Open Wallet in the app: before you have a limit, it shows what you could be eligible for, from your nxtPay orders or the mobile money statement you share. It is an estimate; a licensed credit partner decides.
How does my limit grow?
Every 3 plans you pay on time, your credit partner reviews you for the next step, about 25% more. Wallet shows how close you are. A late payment pauses the climb; your credit partner has the final say.
Who provides the credit?
Plans are funded by licensed credit partners named on your agreement. nxtPay runs the platform and never holds your money.
