In-store payments (scan and go)
At a shop's counter, the cashier rings up items in nxtPay Business → Till and shows a QR code. The shopper scans it, checks the items, and pays in 4 (signed with their PIN) or in full.
Flow
- The cashier taps items; nxtPay prices them (promotions applied) and creates a sale with a 6-character code, valid for 15 minutes.
- The QR encodes
https://pay.nxtlaunch.tech/shopper/pay-in-store?code=K7P2QD. Any phone camera opens it; the nxtPay app has a built-in scanner. - The shopper sees the shop, items and total, chooses pay in 4 or pay in full, and pays.
- The cashier's screen updates live: waiting → shopper is paying → approved. Then the cashier marks the items handed over.
Rules
- One shopper per code; if their payment fails or is abandoned, the code becomes available again until it expires.
- Codes avoid look-alike characters (no 0/O, 1/I/L) so they can be read aloud.
- Shoppers who are behind on a payment can still pay in full but not take a new plan.
- If the shop or an item takes full payment only, pay in 4 isn't offered for that sale.
- The order is a normal nxtPay order with
channel = "in_store", so it appears in sales, payouts, tax and returns.
Payments the shop takes itself
The Till also records MTN MoMo and Airtel Money sent directly to the shop. nxtPay doesn't handle that money (no fee); it's recorded for stock, reports and VAT. nxtPay doesn't take cash.
